Tutorial
I will explain how to add the hacked firmware and the games on your iPod Video.
But first, make sure you’ve downloaded alteast 1 game, iPodWizard v1.3 and the hacked firmware.
Note: There are 2 different iPod Video version! A G5(old) and a G5.5(new). Both need there own firmware. If you use the wrong one, your iPod may crash. To be sure wich one you have, go to Music on your iPod. Now scroll down, if there’s anything like a search function, you’ve got a G5.5. If there’s nothing like that, you’ve got a G5.
And before we start, I’m not responsible for anything. If your iPod crashes because of the thing you did, described in this tutorial, than too bad for you. It probably won’t happen, and if so, the recovery function in iTunes should be albe to solve it. So renember to NOT send me any stupid e-mails about your crashed iPod, I don’t care, it’s all at own risk.
To begin, plug your iPod in your PC.
-Now open iTunes, and make sure that the ”Sync Games” checkbox is NOT checked. Because else, your games will be deleted every time you open iTunes.
-Now go to My Computer. And make sure that ”Show hidden files and folders ” in enabled. (Tools->Folder Options/Options->View->and select ”Show hidden files and folders”)
-Now open the iPod drive and then open the folder: ipod_control.
-Now create a folder called: Games_RO
And that’s the folder where you need to place the games. In every zip file of a games, there’s a folder with a certain number. Copie that folder to: Games_RO. Leave the name of the folder as it is. Or else the iPod won’t recognize it.
Now open iPodWizard v1.3.
-Select ”Firmware File” under ”Edit Mode”
-Click Open Firmware and select your hacked firmware file.
-And now click on the Write to iPod button.
(It should look like this:)
The hacked firmware is now installed.
-Now unplug your iPod. It will reset himself. This may cost some time, just be patient. And enjoy your games
NOTE: If you have a theme on your iPod, or extra screens, or anything else, you may want to save it with iPW first, and then once you write your firmware you can change everything back.
